SRO to Notify New Pictorial Health Warning on Cigarette Packs Published

 Islamabad: March 10, 2015:    SRO of new pictorial health warning on cigarette packs and outers has been published. With this publication, all rumors about delaying and withdrawal of SRO dissolves and disintegrates by itself. This need to be recalled that Mrs. Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination had stated that Government was very much concerned about betterment of health of citizens of Pakistan. Government would not left any corner untouched for protecting & enhancement of health of Pakistani’s. Now it would be mandatory to have pictorial health warning published on all cigarette packs produced / imported  and sold in Pakistan. Strict disciplinary action will be taken for non compliance   of this Law. It is noted that Government is receiving appreciation and ­warm   regards from civil society/ all stakeholders from all over Pakistan and abroad. Government is also taking measures to raise tax on cigarettes in upcoming budget which would not only result in increasing Government revenue but will also protect the health of Pakistanis from hazards of tobacco use.
